Caterpillar Tractor Company Photographs, 1927-1932 (inclusive).

A collection of approximately five hundred black and white photographic prints depicting the manufacture and use of Caterpillar equipment around the world in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Caterpillar commissioned a wide assortment of photographs of its products at work for advertising and other publicity. The collection is organized into two series. The first contains photographs of Caterpillar's plants and manufacturing operations; the second consists of photographs of Caterpillar equipment in use in the United States, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and Central and South America. The images depict farming, logging, mining, road building, and construction equipment in action.

The Caterpillar Tractor Company was formed in 1925 by the merger of the Holt Manufacturing Company of Stockton, California, and Peoria, Illinois, and the C.L.
